The Bushbuckridge Local Municipality is currently experiencing low river levels and because of this, the Mutlumivi River which supplies the Thulamahashe Water Treatment Works is mostly affected.
The municipality will implement water limiting in the Thulamahashe and the surrounding areas due to the
Mutlumuvi river water levels, where the Thulamahashe plant had to be stopped to allow water to accumulate
in order to run normal operations.
Areas affected will be Thulamahashe Township, Zola, Mabumbu, and surrounding areas, the
municipality urges the members of the community to use water accordingly.
The municipality has further engaged the Department of Water and the Inkomati-Usuthu Catchment Management Agency as the custodians of dams and stored water to come on board and advise.
Due to this, the municipality will use water tankers to supply water in some affected areas and further apologized to the affected communities for the inconvenience the situation will cause.
