Last week, the Mpumalanga Department of Education announced that it has completed its vaccine roll-out programme. The programme was on the 23rd of June and completed on the 14th July. The department said, in a statement, that it would like to express its gratitude to all teachers, officials and support staff who took advantage of the vaccination programme.
The department’s spokesperson, Gerald Sambo, said the department would have loved to reach out to all its 53 000 staff.
“The department is however encouraged by the turnout and the enthusiasm displayed by those who took the vaccination. It is also grateful of the manner in which officials of the Department of Health coordinated this programme,” said Sambo.
“The department appreciates the leadership that was provided by the education sector unions, associations of school governing bodies and by all who played a pivotal role towards this achievement,” he said.
The teachers received the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
