MEC for sports, arts and culture in Limpopo congratulates Banyana Banyana


MEC for Sports, Arts, and Culture in Limpopo Ms. Thandi Moraka has joined Minister Nathi Mthethwa and the rest of the country to congratulate the South African Women’s Soccer Team on their historic success. This is after the team won their first ever Women Africa Cup of Nations Tournament after being in the final six times. The team which is led by coach Desiree Ellis had won all their five games in the tournament before beating hosts Morroco 2-1 in front of 52 000 strong crowd at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat. The team is said to arrive home on Tuesday 26 July 2022.

The MEC also sent a special congratulatory message to players from the province for their recent achievements with the team. The players include Lebogang Ramalepe, Noko Matlou, Nomvula Kgaole, Hildah Magai, and Amogelang Motau, who all played an important role in helping Banyana Banyana bring the title back home to South Africa. The department is said to have a special welcoming function to honor, appreciate and celebrate the players from Limpopo province for a job well done.  “I would like to take this opportunity and congratulate all the players for a job well done. This is really encouraging, and it shows that we have pure talent in the country and in the province. I would also like to thank every supporter who was behind Banyana Banyana in winning the African continent” said MEC Moraka.
