It was a celebratory mood in the community of Goromane as they were visited by the Premier of Mpumalanga, Refilwe Mtshweni and the Department of Health as well as the municipality to officially open the Goromane Community clinic.
According to the HOD for health Dr. Savera Mohangi, the community clinic first started as a mobile clinic only operating for only 2 hours a day twice a week, “therefore we saw it necessary to build a clinic in this community because it is in a deep rural area, which makes it difficult for the residents to access primary health care.”
The clinic will create employment for six permanent nurses. It will operate for eight hours a day from Monday to Friday.
Dr. Mohangi further said that the working hours may be increased, should there be a need.
