Residents encouraged to take care of library

MEC for culture, Sport & Recreation Thandi Shongwe has officially opened a public library at MP Stream Bushbuckridge on the 30th of April 2019. She urged members of the community particularly the people living close to the library to protect it from thieves. “Please protect this facility it will help your children and you also, make sure that you protect it from criminals who are enemies of progress. A new school was opened recently at Tsuvulani last week; the same night criminals sneaked in and stole computers as well as the school resources that were going to help the children.”

She further explained that Pupils must use this library so that they can improve their vocabulary and reading skills. The library is fully equipped with Internet, WIFI and it will operate from Monday to Saturday and al children from all grades can come and read.”  

One of the speakers, a member of royal council of Amashangane Tribal Authorities under chief Nxumalo, welcomed the library and also promised that it will be protected by the chief. “We will do everything in our powers to protect this library; we want to see the kids getting all the necessary help they can get. Our people are suffering here at MP Stream please build a clinic for us so that our people can get the proper health care they need” he concluded.

MEC Shongwe gave away sports kit and merchandise to different teams. She gave two soccer teams’ soccer kit and merchandise namely Royal Birds FC and Junior Abraham FC, Bushbuckridge Cricket club, Thulamahashe Volleyball club and Khaya Boxing club were also part of the teams that received the merchandise.
