Two CIT heist robbers shot dead

Two of four suspects were shot dead following a cash-in transit heist that took place at the Bushbuckridge Shopping Complex on the afternoon of Monday, 3 September.

According to Bushbuckridge SAPS, he incident occurred at OBC Store when the G4S Security were collecting money, and two of four males approached the security that was pushing the shock trolley, disarmed him off his norinco firearm and took the shock trolley and then instructed the guard to get into the truck and close the door.

The suspects then tried to escape via the R533 road towards Graskop when one of them was shot by the guards and died instantly near the road. The other suspects fled the scene with a white Toyota Corolla, which capsized next to Ngwaritsane Bridge and one was shot dead and two managed to escape. The police managed to seize four firearms and the money in the overturned car.

According to eye witnesses, the incident took place at around 4pm when the said perpetrators arrived at the scene just a few moments after the G4S Security. They immediately took charge of the scene and quietly instructed everyone to stay away as they began with their operation.

It was also reported to Bushbuckridge News that both the deceased men have already been identified as 34 year-olds Evans Mlimi from Mganduzweni and Mlungisi ‘Professor’ Malandule from Marite. A case of armed robbery has been opened.
